Captain Marvel - Movie Review
From the universe of Marvel comics comes another brilliant piece of an origin story. This movie presents us with an epic narrative along with stunning visual effects. Without giving too many spoilers, the story revolves around an alien warrior named ‘vers’ who later becomes the superhero ‘Captain Marvel’ a.k.a ‘Carol Denvers’ trying to piece together her past along with ending the intergalactic war between two alien races.
Brie Larson plays the female protagonist in this movie and she beautifully impersonates the formidable avenger. Set in the 1990’s this movie shows a young ‘Nick Fury’ played by Samuel L. Jackson who provides humor as well as a helping hand to our first female superhero. Other star casts include Lashana Lynch, Ben Mendelsohn, Annette Bening and Jude Law.
It focuses on the story around the budding friendship between Larson and Jackson, who have natural chemistry. It isn't easy to create core characters who develop a natural rapport that is both funny and uplifting. The character growth shown by Captain Marvel isn't simply that of an amnesiac learning her real identity, but of a woman who realizes her destiny by listening to her inner sense of self. "Captain Marvel" has a number of other strengths as well, one of them is well choreographed action sequences and VFX to displays the emission of energy blasts.
The beauty of Captain Marvel and her origin story is that we get to discover her as she discovers herself and there is enough to keep both die hard marvel fans and newcomers engaging.
